The Challengers Golf Club is a rare chance to belong to a Men’s golf club that has Tee times a year in advance at 9 different courses throughout Ventura County. We play every Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as two “Outings” a year (Spring and Fall) at Premiere golf courses such as the Alisal River Course in Solvang, and Sandpiper Golf Course in Santa Barbara.
Most Men’s Clubs play at the same course every week or month and often times they turn into cliques that always play in the same foursomes so it is difficult for a new member to fit in. With the Challengers, the people who set up the foursomes make sure that all members are paired with every other member over time.
We don’t have a set monthly dues, but we pay $5 every round we play which go’s towards reducing the cost of our Outings – the more often you play, the cheaper your cost for the outing. If you only play one time in a month, your cost for that month is only $5.
I have been a member since 2002 and I would not ever join another Men’s Club.

I joined The Challengers in 2004 at the request of some men from church. I had always enjoyed their Christian companionship, had enjoyed golfing with them in some church golf events, and hoped to play more golf and meet new people. The Challengers have been a blessing to me in many ways.
The Challengers provide scheduled tee times at a variety of courses, reduced group golf fees, getting to know several new people, the ability to accommodate special requests, friendly individual awards of a golf ball for closest to the pin, long drive, shooting your age (it’s amazing how good it feels to win a golf ball now and then), and, if my team gets the most points, I can even get my $5 contribution back!
I had been a member of a country club, but find this club, the way it is managed, the variety of foursomes, and the numerous golf courses, so much more fun (and less costly). I cannot imagine a better golf group.

I was talking with one of my long time patients about what I might do when I retired. We both shared an interest in golf and Dan DeSario and I had talked about it over 30 years. He asked me if I might want to come out and play with his golf club. He told me they played on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
So, off and on, I played with them as a guest. I found that some of the members and I had played rounds over the years. When I retired two years later, I joined the Challengers.
It has been a pleasure to play with this group of guys over the last eight years. One of the things I like best about playing in this group is playing with everyone since Foursomes are chosen by the bagman responsible for organizing each tournament. This gives you a chance to get to know each member and play golf with everyone.
The club is made up of golfers from all walks of life and all levels of ability. We enjoy team play twice a week. The cost for each tournament is nominal and there is no cost to join the club. This fit my lifestyle so well because I can play when I want. If I’m traveling I just don’t sign up for that tournament.
This is a great group of guys and I would gladly recommend this club to everyone. We are always looking for another laugh and another good round and another member to share it with.

Truly a great group of fun and interesting golfers. I have only been a member for a couple of months but have been welcomed into the group. If you are looking for a group of casual golfers that have guaranteed tee times at many different courses for variety, this one is for you.
